Some reed diffuser liquids may discolour over time. This does not mean anything is wrong with your product or it’s fragrance, it just usually means that the compounds in the fragrance have been exposed to strong light sources such as direct sunlight. In order to prevent this be sure to place your diffuser away from direct sunlight.

We recommend that customers chose a ‘nebulising diffuser’ as opposed to more popular ‘humidifying’ or ‘ultrasonic’ diffusers. Humidifying and ultrasonic diffusers diffuse mostly water vapour and run out quickly, they also have a risk of spillage, as well as safety issues due to having electricity in close proximity to water.
Scent Australia Home’s ‘micro nebulising diffuser’ allows the diffusion of pure fine fragrance into the air, with no fragrance dilution, no spillage and no safety hazards. It will also run until the oil bottle is completely empty!
When looking for an aromatherapy diffuser, look for a nebulising diffuser with adjustable output levels, water/mess free operation and cleaning, a cold air micro scent diffusion mechanism, with a contemporary and unassuming design. The nebulising diffuser from Scent Australia Home offers all of these benefits, in a compact and good looking package.
Pleasant scents have been shown to have a powerful influence on everything from an individual’s mood, to a feeling of wellbeing to increased customer spend and shop floor dwell times. Please feel free to speak to one of our expert Scent Consultants about your specific requirements to see how scents can better help you.
Generally yes, but keep in mind that this will deplete the oil faster! The Scent Australia Home nebulising diffuser has a shut down timer with increments up to two hours so that you can program it to turn off automatically. We also use very high grade fine fragrance oil, so you may find that you will achieve your desired fragrance level quickly.
Pure essential oils can have powerful properties. Some of these can be beneficial but some are potentially harmful — that’s why we use only IFRA compliantdiffuser oils that are 100% non-toxic. We suggest consulting with Scent Australia Home about our range of fine fragrances to see which fragrances would be best for your needs.
Most aroma diffusers sold for residential use are humidifiers that use an ultrasonic diffusion method. Our nebulising diffuser uses a revolutionary nebulisation function that removes the need for water to be used in the diffusion process.
It is not recommended to use reed diffuser oil in mist diffusers because reed diffuser oil often contains flammable alcohol or at the very least carrier chemicals. It’s better to use pure oil in a diffuser such as those available from Scent Australia Home.
We would suggest diffusing our aroma oils until the desired scent level is reached in the room, after which time you can turn the diffuser off. Scent Australia Home has an unrivalled range of oil diffusers and diffuser fragrances as well as knowledgeable and expert staff to help you select the best aroma diffuser and fragrances for your needs.
Yes, pure essential oils such as eucalyptus and spearmint oil concentrations can be highly toxic. However when synthetic IFRA-compliantoils are diffused lightly via micro nebulisation diffusion, the dose rate in the air is so low that it is considered to be safe or may even offer health benefits. Speak to Scent Australia Home about the safe use of scented diffuser oils.
The safety of a fragrance diffuser will depend upon the oil being diffused in it as some essential oils such as spearmint and eucalyptus concentrates can be toxic.
Diffusers sold in Australia from reputable fragrance houses should be safe to use and will usually be IFRA approved. Beware of uncertified imported products with unknown ingredients.
Look for an aroma diffuser with a nebulising function or cold air diffusion features. These types of aroma diffusers will give you the best overall performance, safety and ease of use.
Generally you can but beware of poor quality oils as they will not diffuse properly and may damage your scent diffuser. Low quality fragrances may also not be IFRA compliant and therefore not safe for human consumption.
Essential oils have been shown to have powerful mood-altering properties due to increased relaxation, reduced stress and increased purchasing in retail environments. They also diffuse gorgeous smelling fragrance!
Good quality oil diffusers work wonderfully to create a beautiful fragrance in any environment you choose.
Scent Australia Homearoma diffusers are made from the highest quality products to the highest manufacturing standards. They should last at least 5 years before an upgrade or replacement is needed.
Certain other brand diffusers may leave reside but a nebulising aroma diffuser from Scent Australia should leave no noticeable residue.
Essential oils could be bad for you if you don’t use them correctly or you use essential oils such as eucalyptus and spearmint in very high concentrations. Synthetic fragrances on the other hand, such as those sold by Scent Australia Home are completely safe and IFRA compliant.
This is not recommended as massage oil is not intended for use in scent diffusers.
This will depend on the size of the area you need scented, the chemical composition of the fragrance, and how long you run the diffuser. All of our fragrance oils have an “oil usage” table tab on the product page for that particular fragrance.
Orange oil will make your home smell like fresh oranges! The orange is a citrus fruit and citrus has been shown to improve our mood so take a look here and if you like it give it a try!
Yes, our ultrasonic diffusers give off water/humidity while they run. However if this is to be avoided switch to a nebulising diffuser instead such as a micro diffuser from Scent Australia.
The only other thing to consider using in a diffuser would be pure perfume/aromatic oils which work in much the same way.
Certain smells have been proven to reduce anxiety and increase happiness so give them a try and see if they work for you. Hint try scents heavy in vanilla to relax you or citrus to lift your mood.
Yes the plant derived substances in essential oils can have powerful properties ranging from anti-bacterial to antiviral and some of these can reduce stress and lift our emotions.
While essential oils may have powerful properties, it is best to consult a medical professional or at least an aromatherapist for advice about the healing properties of essential oils.
As long as you like until your desired scent level is reached.
In their concentrated form they can be, however, once essential oils are diffused the dose rate will be much lower and is considered safe in most instances. All our aroma oils are IFRA compliant for your added peace of mind.
As many as you like to achieve your desired scent level. We think it is always best to start with a few and increase to achieve the desired result.
In concentrated form reed diffuser oil is considered toxic, but when diffused in the manner intended it is 100% safe and IFRA compliant.
Normally the scent should be noticeable within an hour of putting the reed sticks into the oil however this may be dependant on the type and concentration of the diffuser oil as well as the number of reed sticks used. You can take a look at our reed diffuser range here.
It depends on the quality of the oil being supplied as well as the area to be scented. Reed diffusers are great to scent a small area but for larger areas its suggested to use a powered diffuser.
Due to the absence of a heating element, reed diffusers tend to give off less scent but conversely they last much longer than scented candles. They also contain significantly more oil than a typical candle which also extends their life. You can take a look at our scented candles and our reed diffusers.
Our reed diffusers come with 10 reed diffuser sticks. It is recommended that you use all the reeds which come with the reed diffuser kit. If the fragrance is too strong, consider reducing the number of reeds used by one at a time.
Reed diffusers sold in Australia from reputable fragrance houses should be safe to use and will usually be IFRA approved. Beware of uncertified imported reed diffuser products with unknown ingredients.
The oils can be considered to be toxic in concentrated form but should be considered safe when used appropriately. All Scent Australia Home fragrance aroma oils are IFRA certified for your peace of mind.
Normally you can refill reed diffusers but watch for over-used reeds clogging up and consider replacing them when they no longer work effectively.
Generally from two to eight months depending mainly on the type of carrier oil used with the reed diffuser.
Cats will often avoid coming too near scenting products due to their very strong sense of smell however there is no reason to suggest that our reed diffusers would not be safe for cats to smell. This being said, don’t let your cats ingest reed diffuser oil as it is toxic in such high concentrations as would be the case if ingesting it.
This depends on the type of diffuser, the quality of oil and how it is diffused. Please contact us to seek advice about your specific needs.
This is a personal question as people have subjective preferences about what scent is best. A good perfume company will design their scents with broad appeal so that no one should hate your favourite smell but some people will absolutely love it. Refer to Scent Australia Home to see our range of gorgeous fragrances for your home.
A small minority of people have sensitivity to certain chemicals but most people will not have any adverse reaction to air-borne fragrances as our fragrances are designed to be diffused at many parts per million.
We think our scented candles are the best! They're made with 100% pure soy wax, are paraffin free and they are scented with our fragrances sourced from famous international perfumers. Take a look at our range of gorgeous scented candles for sale online to explore further.
We think we do at Scent Australia Home! Generally the best is a subjective measure however mid to top range products will generally include the finest ingredients and give the best scent possible. You can take a look at our high quality perfumed candle range here.
You generally need to burn more candles at the same time or perhaps look for a scented candle with a better hot scent throw.
While you should be careful of the obvious fire hazards of candles, scented candles are completely safe to be around and inhale.
Mainly because of the brand value and reputation attached to this well-known brand. Larger candles generally cost more to make due to their greater need for expensive perfume oils and also due to the increased shipping costs as a large candle can weigh at least one kilogram.
This answer depends on your preference for a candle scent. We like aquatic, citrus and wood notes best for scented candles.
Homemade candles don’t always smell the best (or at all!). This may be due to the wrong wick, the fact that an incorrect perfume was used and maybe not at the correct level.
Normally 6–12% of a candle’s weight will be comprised of fragrances. At Scent Australia Home we always aim to use 12% fragrance to ensure the best possible scent effect can be achieved with our scented candles.
Pure perfume oils can be used for scented candles however beware of using end product perfume sprays which contain 90% flammable alcohol. Ie EDT type sprays will have not enough perfume oil in them to make the candle effective and furthermore the flammability of the alcohol could be a real risk in the candle making and burning process.
Please be careful with burning candles as they may indeed burn you.
Besides the obvious fire risk, care should be taken to ensure enough fresh air can enter the room you are scenting.
Besides the obvious fire risk care should be taken to ensure enough fresh air can enter the room when using scented candles.
This depends on your preference but we think that Trudon Candles are amongst the best in the world. That being said, they are some of the most expensive scented candles in the world.
We recommend burning 100% pure soy wax candles and to stay away from paraffin based candles. Be careful of soy blends as these can contain mainly paraffin blended with a little soy. Refer to Scent Australia Home where you can select from a fantastic range of pure soy wax scented candles as well as obtain expert advice to help you choose the best scent for your needs.
The most harmful thing given off from a candle is the burned wax/smoke itself. Its best to ventilate the area to ensure the smoke is carried away.
The shelf life of a scented candle should last at least a couple of years. Technically they might deteriorate after 12 months but realistically you wouldn’t expect issues in the first couple of years. To further preserve your scented candle, store it in a cool place out of direct sunlight when not in use.
Small babies are very sensitive to both heat and fragrance so it might be best to keep them away from burning candles until they are older.
Candles give off a small amount of smoke and inhaling large amounts of smoke is never safe. However, with adequate ventilation the amount of smoke inhaled will be minutely low, making scented candles non-toxic to breathe if used correctly.
Soy Wax Candles
Soy wax candles are made from soy beans rather than paraffin candles which are made from crude oil so they are both better for your nose and the environment.
Not if used correctly. Just don’t eat them and don’t burn them without proper ventilation, other than that you shouldn’t expect any ill effects.
Look out for locally made, high quality soy candles from reputable manufacturers. For candles that match all of the above criteria, check out the Scent Australia Home range of 100% pure soy wax perfume candles.
Yes, soy wax candles are plant derived instead of crude oil derived. They not only smell better but are both better to burn and better for the environment.
Beeswax candles have some interesting attributes but are generally unscented. Soy wax candles are best for scenting your environment.
Yankee candles are expensive due to brand perception, importation costs, and the fact they are generally well made. This being said, there are many other high-quality candles which might be less expensive. Check out our scented candle range which offers the perfect mix of reasonable pricing and outstanding quality.
We’re not sure. It might be best to check their website. But, we do offer a range or soy wax perfume candles which we think you will love.
We are not aware of anyone becoming ill from smelling a scented candle however some people might have extreme chemical sensitivity and can be irritated by fragrances in the air (from perfumed candles or other sources).
We do not know the specific qualities and ingredients used in these candles but as long as fire safety precautions are observed and they are burned with suitable ventilation, they are likely safe. All our scented candles are IFRA certified for your peace of mind.
Soy candles are more natural and are considered safer than paraffin wax candles. They are also better for the environment.
The strongest candles are normally large diameter with a big wax pool to give off more scent. Certain perfume notes are also stronger than others including male and female perfumes, fruity notes and woody perfumes. These scents tend to have a stronger scent throw. Check out our range of scented candles.
Choose stronger smelling perfumes and use larger candle vessels of greater diameter.
The general burn time for a candle is usually four hours at a time, however you can burn a candle for as long as you like until you achieve your desired level of fragrance strength.
Soy wax, such as we use in our scented candles, is considered safer and more natural and cleaner burning than paraffin wax. It is also better for the environment.
Not particularly. Soy wax candle burn time depends on the size of the wick, candle diameter and the fragrance oil used in the candle.
Soy wax will not harm skin. It is however not suggested to pour molten wax onto skin.
